Is the stock market open today?
A short answer for the most-Googled question in finance.
If you arrived here on a weekday, in the US between 09:30 and 16:00 Eastern, and it's not a federal holiday, then the answer is yes. The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are open Monday through Friday, with no lunch break, on about 250 trading days per year.
If you arrived here on a weekend, the cash equity market is closed - but plenty of other things are not. CME index futures, FX, and crypto all trade through the weekend in various ways.
- CME futures reopen on Sunday at 17:00 CT - the first price you'll see on Monday morning.
- FX reopens at the same time, when Sydney desks come online.
- Crypto never closed in the first place.
